Professional Verkada Camera Installation
Camera System Design, Installation & Support by Fireside Security
Verkada builds the cameras and the Command platform. Fireside Security is the contractor that makes the system actually cover your building — coverage planning view by view, structured cabling to every camera, clean mounting inside and out, network and PoE coordination with your IT team, configuration coordination in Command, and support afterward.

The platform
What a Verkada system changes about the install
Cloud-managed cameras shift the work from the equipment room to the openings and the network. There is less to rack and more riding on placement, cabling quality, and switch capacity. Product details below reflect what Verkada publishes on its own site; specifications, features, and availability are controlled by Verkada and can change, so we verify them against the exact models in your design before proposing anything.
Hybrid cloud architecture
Verkada processes and stores video on the camera and in the cloud, which removes the NVR or recording server from most designs. That changes what we install — and simplifies the closet.
Onboard storage
Verkada publishes onboard retention on its cameras ranging from 30 to 365 days depending on model. We confirm the retention you need against the exact models before quoting.
Edge processing and analytics
Analytics run on the camera itself. Placement, height, and lens choice therefore matter more than usual — a badly aimed camera produces bad search results, not just bad video.
Command management
Cameras are administered through Verkada Command. We coordinate configuration in your organization's Command environment with your IT and security stakeholders.
Integrations and APIs
Verkada publishes out-of-the-box integrations and APIs. Where an integration applies to your environment, we scope it explicitly rather than assuming it.
Command Connector for legacy cameras
Verkada's Command Connector is intended to bring existing cameras into Command. On retrofits we survey what you have and evaluate whether that is the right path for your fleet.
Camera selection
Choosing the right camera for each view
Verkada currently publishes several camera form factors. Treat this as a current snapshot rather than a permanent catalog — the lineup changes as models are introduced and retired. We pick per view based on what has to be identifiable, how far away it is, the lighting, and where the camera can physically be mounted.
Dome
The general-purpose choice for lobbies, corridors, sales floors, and most interior openings.
Mini
Compact body for tight ceilings, stairwells, elevator cabs, and discreet placements.
Bullet
Directional coverage and detail at distance — driveways, gates, and license-plate views.
Fisheye
Single-unit 180-degree coverage for open floor plates, warehouse aisles, and wide rooms.
Multisensor
Two or four sensors in one housing to cover several directions from one mounting point.
PTZ
Wide-area coverage at a distance where an operator needs to pan, tilt, and zoom.
Remote
Battery and LTE-equipped model for locations without power or network at the pole.
Coverage planning
Cameras don't fail. Coverage plans do.
Almost every disappointing camera system we are asked to fix has the same problem: the hardware is fine, but nobody planned the views. The camera at the register is too high to identify a face. The dock camera is aimed at a wall of sunlight every afternoon. The gate camera cannot read a plate because it was mounted where the conduit was easy. We design the coverage first — the identification distance for each view, the lens, the mounting height, the lighting at the worst time of day — and then specify hardware to match it.
Scope
What a Fireside camera install includes
Cloud cameras still need cable, power, network capacity, proper mounting, and someone accountable for the result. That is the part we own.
- Site walk and camera coverage plan, view by view
- Model and lens selection per mounting location
- Camera placement, height, and field-of-view design
- Structured cabling and Cat6 runs to every camera
- Network switching, PoE budget, and VLAN coordination with IT
- Mounting on ceilings, hard lids, masonry, poles, and exteriors
- Weather sealing, gland termination, and outdoor mounting hardware
- Clean, concealed installation with proper cable management and labeling
- Power, UPS, and closet build-out where required
- Camera commissioning, aiming, and focus verification
- Configuration coordination in Verkada Command with your administrators
- As-built documentation and camera schedule
- Administrator walkthrough and handoff
- Ongoing service, adds, moves, and changes
Integration
Cameras plus access control and security
Cameras answer "what happened." Access control answers "who was there." Most of the projects we deliver combine the two so a door event can be reviewed against video instead of a bare log line. Verkada publishes integrations and APIs, and also produces its own access control and intercom products; where an integration applies to your environment we scope it explicitly. Because we also design and install access control, intercoms, structured cabling, and networks, the whole stack can come from one contractor with one accountable scope.

Process
How a camera project runs
01 · Survey
We walk the property and identify what actually needs to be seen — entrances, registers, docks, yards, blind spots, and problem areas.
02 · Coverage plan
Each view is assigned a model and lens, with mounting height and aim documented before anything is ordered.
03 · Proposal
A defined scope: camera count and models, cabling, network requirements, mounting, and configuration coordination.
04 · Install
Our licensed low-voltage crews run the cabling, mount and seal every camera, and keep the install clean and labeled.
05 · Commission
Every camera is aimed, focused, and verified on the network, then configured in coordination with your Command administrators.
06 · Support
Documentation, administrator walkthrough, and contracted ongoing service for adds, moves, changes, and troubleshooting.

FAQ
Verkada installation questions
- Does Fireside Security install Verkada cameras?
- Yes. Fireside Security is an independent commercial security and low-voltage contractor. We design, install, and support Verkada camera deployments — coverage planning, cabling, mounting, network coordination, configuration coordination in Verkada Command, and ongoing service. Verkada manufactures the cameras and operates the Command platform.
- Is Fireside Security a Verkada dealer or certified partner?
- We do not claim any dealer, reseller, certification, or partner status with Verkada on this page. We present ourselves strictly as an independent installation and deployment contractor. Verkada maintains its own installer directory on its website if you want to confirm the status of any contractor.
- Do I need an NVR or a recording server?
- Verkada's published architecture stores and processes video on the camera and in the cloud, which removes the traditional NVR from most designs. We confirm the storage and retention requirements for your specific models and use case during design.
- How long is video retained?
- Verkada publishes onboard retention on its cameras in a range of 30 to 365 days depending on the model. Retention is a product characteristic controlled by Verkada, so we verify it against the exact models specified for your project rather than promising a number up front.
- Can you replace or reuse our existing cameras?
- Often, at least in part. We survey the existing cabling, mounting locations, switching, and power to determine what can appropriately be reused. Verkada also offers Command Connector, which is intended to bring existing cameras into Command — whether that fits your fleet is something the survey determines, not something we assume.
- Can the cameras work with our access control system?
- Verkada publishes integrations and APIs, and Verkada also produces its own access control and intercom products. Where an integration applies to your environment we scope it explicitly. We also install access control systems directly, so a combined camera and access project can be delivered by one contractor.
- Do you provide video monitoring?
- This page covers design, installation, configuration coordination, and support. If you want any form of monitored service, ask us and we will tell you exactly what is and is not available for your system rather than implying coverage that is not in place.
- Do you supply the cameras or do we buy them ourselves?
- Fireside Security can provide a complete installed system, and we can also quote installation and deployment services if you are procuring the hardware separately.
- Where in California do you install?
- Statewide from four California offices, including San Francisco, San Jose, Oakland, Sacramento, and Los Angeles.
